A door event without video is a row in a log. Video without the door event is a clip you have to scrub. The useful system is the one that opens the matching camera when someone badges a door they should not have.
What “integrated” has to mean on site
- Time sync between the access panel, NVR, and network so clips line up
- Camera views aimed at the door face — not the hallway twenty feet away
- Role-based users who can review events without getting a full camera admin login
- A retention policy that keeps door-correlated video long enough for an HR or insurance review
This is ordinary commercial work, not a science project. Openpath, Honeywell, Axis, and a competent VMS will do it when the design treats doors and cameras as one job.
